چکیده

Like humans, horses are susceptible to neurotropic and neuroinvasive pathogens that not always readily identified in histological sections. Instead, alterations astrocytes microglia cells can be used as pathological hallmarks of injured nervous tissue a variety infectious degenerative diseases. On the other hand, equine glial cell poorly characterized Therefore, this study, we provide statistically proved score system classify astrogliosis microgliosis central (CNS) horses, based on morphological quantitative analyses 35 cases encephalitis and/or encephalopathies four non-altered CNS controls. For system, fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 (Iba1) immunohistochemistry, allied statistical analysis confirm scores were correctly designated. The ranged from 0 (non-altered) 3 (severely altered) provided helpful method for describing astrocytic microglial suffering inflammatory lesions. This could template comparative studies animal species aid algorithms designed artificial intelligence methods lacking defined pattern.

Abnormal Reaction to Central Nervous System Injury in Mice Lacking Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein and Vimentin

In response to injury of the central nervous system, astrocytes become reactive and express high levels of the intermediate filament (IF) proteins glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), vimentin, and nestin. We have shown that astrocytes in mice deficient for both GFAP and vimentin (GFAP-/-vim-/-) cannot form IFs even when nestin is expressed and are thus devoid of IFs in their reactive state....

Age-related changes in ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 immunoreactivity and protein level in the gerbil hippocampal CA1 region.

Microglia are evenly distributed throughout the brain parenchyma. They respond rapidly to a variety of alterations in the microenvironment of the brain and act as sensors for pathological events in the brain. In the present study, we investigated the age-dependent changes in the immunoreactivity and protein level of ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 (Iba-1), a microglial marker, in the...

Specificity of the glial fibrillary acidic protein for astroglia.

Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFA) is the main constituent of glial filaments and the close similarity of GFA and neurofilament protein has been recently reported. However, the immunofluorescence staining of peripheral nerve which may be observed with GFA antisera is not due to cross-reaction between GFA and neurofilament protein. Staining of peripheral axons was also observed with control s...

Modelling and Characterization of Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) is an intermediate-filament (IF) protein that maintains the astrocytes of the Central Nervous System in Human. This is differentially expressed during serological studies in inflamed condition such as Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Therefore, it is of interest to glean molecular insight using a model of GFAP (49.88 kDa) due to its crystallographic nonavailabil...

The endless story of the glial fibrillary acidic protein.

All intermediate filament proteins consist of an alpha-helical rod domain flanked by non-helical N-terminal head and C-terminal tail domains. The roles of the non-helical domains of various intermediate filament proteins in the assembly and co-assembly of higher-order filamentous structures have been studied by many groups but with quite contradictory results. Type III intermediate filaments ar...
